Description

A very scenic trail through a gorge along river Akhouryan. The gorge is located inside Lake Arpi National Park. Along the trail there is plenty of wildlife to be observed. Common Sandpiper breeds along this part of the river. Other birds you can see here are Rock Bunting, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Booted Eagle, Black Stork, Mountain Chiffchaff, Citrine Wagtail and many more. The area is also good during migration (many Common Buzzard and European Honey-buzzard, Levant Sparrowhawk, etc.).

Access

Best to start hiking from the bridge crossing river Akhouryan, on the road between Mets Sepasar and Krasar. Parking is possible there. Trails are on both sides of the river, but the one on the eastern side seems to be more interesting. The route you see on the map is 10 km (one way).
