Long and narrow bay in Southwest Finland with at the best time thousands of waterfowl and lots of waders.
Halikonlahti is a long and narrow bay close to the city of Salo. At the end of the 40 kilometres long bay a separate part of the bay forms Kolmosallas lake with islands and reed beds. This lake attracts many birds. It is very easy to reach from the city of Salo, you can walk around it and the area has two bird observation towers. Among the birds you can encounter are Bearded Tit, Sedge Warbler, Bluethroat, Common Rosefinch, Long-eared Owl, Whooper Swan, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Common Goldeneye, Northern Lapwing and Ruff.
There is a parking spot on the south side of the lake. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Walking is the best way to explore the area. From the parking you can make a 2,5 km circular walk around the lake and along the two bird towers.
