This reservoir is a protected area and has an observatory. It is the only wetland in the area. The surrounding area is also interesting for steppe birds.

Description

Embalse Monteagudo de las Vicarias collects its waters from the Nagima River. Its area is 100 hectares. The Black-necked Grebe and the Red-crested Pochard are breeding residents, and several migratory species make a stopover in the marsh. Migratory species such as the Purple Heron, Black Stork, Osprey, Eurasian Spoonbill and various species of ducks and waders. The surrounding area is also interesting for steppe birds like Black-bellied Sandgrouse.

El zampullín cuellinegro y el pato colorado son residentes reproductores y varias especies migratorias hacen escala en el pantano.

Access

In the southwest of Soria, bordering the province of Zaragoza. Go to the town of Monteagudo de las Vicarias and follow the signs to the lake. You can walk around the reservoir. It's about a 7 km walk.
