Description
Hobson's Park is a relatively new park creating a green corridor that runs along Hobson Brook. The park includes some rough scrub, grasslands, a small lake with island and a couple of reeded ponds. Young trees and bushes and allotments and a small amount of reeds. A small viewing screen around the lake but with trees growing in front. Best to walk around to view the lake allowing views of the whole lake.
Просянка, Славка-мельничек and Обыкновенная овсянка breed with good numbers of Полевой жаворонок. Winter is good for Красноголовый нырок and winter thrushes. The reserve is best on passage where Каменка are regular in spring. Recent rarities have included Вертишейка, Белый аист, Чирок-трескунок, Полярная крачка and Болотная сова.

Access
Hobson's Park is located on the southern outskirts of Cambridge. Access by walking or cycling from Cambridge or Trumpington. The A and U buses stop a 5 minute walk away on the Biomedical Campus. Driving not ideal but one could park in the hospital car park or in Trumpington and walk. Best explored on foot but one can cycle through the park. Allow an hour or so to explore properly, more time would mean a more thorough look and more birds!
