Description
Kratie is located along the Mekong River in northeastern Cambodia. The area is an excellent destination for birdwatching, especially along the river’s sandbars and islands. The area is famous for the endemic Mekong Wagtail, which is restricted to the Mekong River basin. Birders can also enjoy beautiful river landscapes and the chance to see many riverine bird species. Besides Mekong Wagtail key target birds include Grey-throated Martin, Little Pratincole, Pied Kingfisher, and Wire-tailed Swallow. With a boat tour you also have a chance to see the extremely rare Irrawaddy river dolphins.

Kratie is located along the Mekong River in northeastern Cambodia, about 240 km northeast of Phnom Penh and 330 km east of Siem Raep. A drive from Siem Raep to Kratie is about 5–6 hours. From Siem Raep you can book a 2 days / 1 night birding tour (including boat trip and overnight stay) to visit the area with a bird guide.
