Description
The area is of great importance for breeding birds of semi-natural grasslands and wetlands. Around 80 species of breeding birds are recorded annually, including koliha velká, čejka chocholatá, čáp bílý , potápka malá, Chřástal vodní, křepelka polní, čírka modrá, čírka obecná, lžičák pestrý, kopřivka obecná, ostříž lesní, kukačka obecná, slavík modráček, bramborníček černohlavý, rákosník obecný (rarely rákosník proužkovaný and rákosník velký) and ťuhýk obecný. Large flocks of husa běločelá use the area during winter, and also a small group of husa malá from a rewilding project in Sweden has established a "tradition" to visit the area for wintering, starting in 2017. In late winter, the area serves as roosting place for hundreds of jeřáb popelavý and during spring migration, a great variety of ducks and waders can be encountered. Occasionally, rarities show up (e.g. volavka červená, polák malý, chřástal malý).

There is a car park in Heintrop, next to the sports field. From there, you can explore the area by foot or bike.
