Description
The most important habitat is the relict alluvial forest. There are temporary natural and artificial ponds, strategically important for migratory fauna, and periodically flooded meadows, vital for biodiversity. In the 34-hectare LIPU protected area, over 150 different species can be observed year-round, half of which are nesting, migratory, and transient passerines. Among the many species are the cetie jižní (sedentary and widespread), the vlha pestrá and kulík říční (nesting), the orlovec říční (migrant visible in September/October), and the cistovník rákosníkový (sedentary).

Nella zona protetta della Lipu di 34ha si possono osservare oltre 150 specie diverse un po' in tutte le stagioni, tra cui la metà passeriformi nidificanti, migratori e di passaggio. L'habitat di maggior rilievo e di interesse prioritario è rappresentato del bosco alluvionale relitto. Sono presenti stagni temporanei di origine naturale e artificiale, di importanza strategica per la sosta della fauna migratoria, e prati periodicamente inondati molto importanti per la biodiversità.

Oasi Arcola is located 10 km east of La Spezia, near the village of Arcola. By car: The Oasis can be reached from the Provincial Road No. 1 Aurelia, which connects La Spezia with Sarzana between Romito Magra and Ponte di Arcola. The nearest motorway exit is Sarzana on the A12 motorway (Genoa-Livorno). From the toll booth, head towards La Spezia and 500 meters after crossing the bridge over the Magra River, take the small road on the right under the railway line. By train + bus: from Sarzana or Ponte di Arcola train stations on the Pisa-La Spezia-Genoa line, then take bus 11 or P, getting off at the S. Genesio stop.

Italiano: In auto: l'Oasi si raggiunge dalla Strada Provinciale n. 1 Aurelia che collega la Spezia con Sarzana tra loc. Romito Magra e Ponte di Arcola. Il casello autostradale più vicino è quello di Sarzana sull'autostrada A12 (Genova-Livorno). Dal casello si prende la direzione La Spezia e 500 m dopo dopo aver attraversato il ponte sul fiume Magra prendere la stradina a destra sotto la linea ferroviaria. In treno+autobus: dalla Stazione Ferroviaria di Sarzana oppure da quella di Ponte di Arcola sulla linea Pisa-La Spezia-Genova e poi autobus 11 o P scendendo alla fermata di S. Genesio.

The oasis is open to visitors year-round, with guided tours available by contacting the management in advance.
Please note: the trails are constantly updated as the area is subject to flooding due to its dynamic morphology. Two trails are currently signposted: the Picchio verde trail (within the riparian forest) and the Beccamoschino circular trail (a shrubby meadow). There are two riverside overlooks that are periodically closed during the bird breeding season (April-August). There are no bird hides.

N.B. I percorsi vengono aggiornati costantemente poiché l'area è esondabile con morfologia dinamica. Attualmente sono segnalati due sentieri con cartelli: il sentiero Picchio verde (all'interno del bosco ripariale) e il sentiero ad anello Beccamoschino (area a prato arbustivo). Ci sono due affacci sul fiume periodicamente chiusi nel periodo riproduttivo dell'avifauna (aprile/agosto). Non ci sono capanni.
