Description
There are many islands on the Lake Aktaş wetland. All of them are stiuated in Turkey. The lake is located at high elevation and it is a freswater lake. The landscape is beautiful with mountain grassland on this Caucasus hotspot. This lake was a breeding area of turpan hnědý. Also, it is still an important breeding area for pelikán kadeřavý and pelikán bílý in Turkey. You can see breeding colonies of pelikán kadeřavý and pelikán bílý which have been restricted to several wetlands in Turkey. If you lucky, you can see turpan hnědý in the lake which is accepted an ex-breeding area of the species. A new record of turpan hnědý will be important in terms of conservation.
