Description
Burghead is situated on a narrow promontory projecting into the Moray Firth. The place is good for sea ducks in winter and waders on shore at low tide. Among the birds you can see are kajka mořská, hoholka lední, turpan černý, turpan hnědý, alka malá, alkoun úzkozobý, alkoun obecný, morčák prostřední, jespák rezavý, koliha velká, kamenáček pestrý, jespák mořský, ústřičník velký, hohol severní, linduška skalní and kormorán chocholatý. In summer the bay is fishing ground for orlovec říční. Besides birds you can spot seals and dolphins. The Moray Firth is home to over 1500 common seals, and up to 500 grey seals come into the Firth in the summer. The Moray Firth is also home to the most northerly resident population of bottle nose dolphins in the world and on a calm day dolphins can be seen leaping out of the water.

Park at head of road and walk 100 metres to look-out (Visitor centre) or turn right to drive down to beach.
