National Nature Reserve is the best preserved example of the lowland heath/raised bog ecosystem which once covered a swathe of Dorset from Poole to Dorchester.

Description

The reserve of Morden Heath and Wareham Forest contains all six British species of reptile, plus roe, fallow and sika deer. Otters occasionally. Rare dragonfly species breed in the ponds. Birds include lesser strakapoud malý, lelek lesní, ostříž lesní, skřivan lesní (best site in Dorset), křivka obecná, ťuhýk šedý in winter, pěnice kaštanová, sokol stěhovavý and slučka malá.

Access

From Poole and Bournemouth take A35 west, then go left on B3075 for 2 miles, car park is on left. From Wareham go NE on A351 then left on B3075, car park is one mile ahead on right.
