Description
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see potápka roháč, ledňáček říční and moták pochop throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports sýkora babka, hýl obecný and Chřástal vodní may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including hvízdák eurasijský, čírka obecná, lžičák pestrý, ostralka štíhlá and a few polák chocholačka. In periods of harsh weather, bukač velký, polák kaholka and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of čížek lesní and čečetka tmavá.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover orlovec říční, but more likely, there will be plenty of rybák obecný feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of vlaštovka obecná, jiřička obecná and břehule říční may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of budníček menší, rákosník proužkovaný, rákosník obecný and even a kukačka obecná along the boardwalk trail.
