Description
Bistraka is a small lake between the river Struma and the A3 motorway. Its a great place for Dværghejre in the summer. Other birds you can observe include Silkehejre, Sort Stork, Hvid Stork, Taffeland, Sydlig Nattergal, Rørhøg Isfugl, Biæder, Digesvale, Syrisk Flagspætte and Drosselrørsanger. Seasonal migration brings flocks of swallows, wagtails, and warblers, while wintering ducks and geese use the area as resting grounds. The area has also seen rarities like Hvidøjet And and Aftenfalk.

Access
Bistraka lake is located south of the town of Blagoevgrad. It has easy access next to a road. Press P on the map for directions. You can make a 2,5 km circular walk around the lake and also walk to the dams in the Struma river.
