Description

The Duvenseer Moor is a broad, quiet moorland shaped by the slow infilling of post‑glacial lakes after the last Ice Age. Over the centuries the lakes silted up, peat accumulated, and by the nineteenth century the area was drained and cut for peat, leaving the lowered, open moorland that survives now. In winter the flooded areas serve as a resting and feeding area for many birds. Birds you can observe include Blisgås, Pibesvane, Sangsvane, Gravand, Atlingand, Spidsand, Krikand, Taffeland, Gøg, Trane, Vibe, Storspove, Brushane, Dobbeltbekkasin, Blå Kærhøg, Rørhøg, Havørn, Lærkefalk, Rødrygget Tornskade, Skægmejse, Sivsanger, Sydlig Nattergal, Dompap, Grønsisken and Gulspurv.
