Campgràs is located in Garraf Natural Park, in a limestone landscape with a bushy vegetation, and is a perfect site to look for birds of dry open landscapes.

Description

Campgràs is a very interesting site to look for Mediterranean species of open landscapes and garrigue. The most iconic species include the resident Høgeørn, Sydlig Stor Tornskade, and Theklalærke, during the breeding season the Middelhavs-stenpikker , and in winter the Blå Kærhøg. Other interesting resident species are Rødhøne, Vandrefalk, Ravn, Blådrossel, Klippesvale, Provence-sanger, and Gærdeværling.

During the breeding season there are several summer species of interest: Alpesejler, Mursejler, Gråsejler, Spottesanger, Bjergløvsanger, Mestersanger, Hvidskægget Sanger, Rødhovedet Tornskade, and Markpiber.

During migration a great variety of species can be observed, like Turteldue, Slangeørn, Rørhøg, and Lærkefalk. Also several passerine species, like Stenpikker, Bynkefugl, Rødstjert, and Broget fluesnapper.

Access

Campgràs is located in Garraf Natural Park, about 10 km west of the town of Castelldefels. The area can only be reached by car. There is a parking site where the walk starts. Press P on the map for directions. The area has to be explored on foot, and it takes 2-3 hours to explore. In summer the area is very hot, and windy days should be avoided during all the year. In winter it can be foggy.

To visit the site, just park in the parking site and start exploring the area, looking for raptors and small birds in the garrigue, and walk following the paved road direction to Campgràs, passing the area (see the ruined house), and continue to the restored landfill, where several species of open habitats can be seen. The route shown on the map is about 1,5 km one way.

Is summer the site is very hot, and it is recommended to visit it in the early morning. On windy days the site is not good for birding.
