Description
Croft Castle and Bircher Common is good for nesting passerines and other woodland birds. Skovsanger, Lille Korsnæb, Dompap, Grønsisken. Skovsneppe, Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl, warblers, some wetland birds at Croft which also has fallow deer, bug hotels and native crayfish. At Bircher and the Croft hillfort there are areas of gorse, good for Vestlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl and Tornirisk. Possible Enkeltbekkasin in winter.

Access
On the B4362 between Mortimers Cross and Ludlow. Parking available at both sites. Click on a P in the map to get directions. Access to Bircher Common is up a steep narrow lane with parking on the grass next to the houses. The circular walks shown on the map are each about 5 km.
