Description
The Deben Estuary is a nationally and internationally significant wintering area for up to 6,000 Hjejle, 600 Stor Kobbersneppe, Rødben and 400+ Klyde. Also Almindelig Ryle, Islandsk Ryle, Strandhjejle and Vibe. Hvinand at Martlesham Creek and Islom at Ramsholt. Toppet Lappedykker, Nordisk Lappedykker, Sorthalset Lappedykker and Vandrikse possible. Small flock of Bjergirisk most winters. High tides are best for seeing roosting waders, check tide times and height first (see the link below). Take care not to get cut off by exceptionally high tides.

From Ipswich take A12 to Woodbridge then various minor roads to Waldringfield on south bank or Bawdsey on north bank. Boat hire available Woodbridge or Waldringfield.
