Description
In Glen Tanar 106 bird species have been seen, passerines and raptors prominent. Kongeørn, Blå Kærhøg, Spurvehøg, Rød Glente, Musvåge, Vandrefalk, Mosehornugle, Fuglekonge, Lille Korsnæb, Grønsisken, Broget fluesnapper. Wildcats possible, also Red Deer, Otter, and Pine Marten. Dalrype and Urfugl occur on higher ground, but although formerly a stronghold for Tjur, these have unfortunately now died out.

Glen Tanar is 6 km (4 miles) SW of Aboyne, which is on the A9 road east of Ballater. The nearest bus service is in Aboyne (6 km). Click on the P in the map to get directions to parking and visitor centre. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 8,5 km.
