Description
Mere Sands Wood is a Lancashire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for species like Dompap, Skovspurv, Stor Flagspætte and Spurvehøg as they fly to and from their nests in the woodland. If you take a seat in one of the lakeside hides you may see Toppet Lappedykker performing their elaborate courtship ritual. Isfugl are present as well as wintering Rørdrum. The lakes and reedbeds also support Vandrikse, Rørspurv, Hvinand, Taffeland and more.There are multiple hides, and it's easy walking.
