Description

Merkinch is an area of tidal pools and mudflats, reedbeds, ponds, saltmarsh and scrub. Birds seen include Hvinand, Ederfugl, all three diver species, Havlit, Nordisk Lappedykker, Alk, Vandstær, Skærpiber, Grønsisken, Kvækerfinke, Stor Korsnæb, Græshoppesanger, Fiskeørn and Spurvehøg.

Access

Merkinch is the NW suburb of Inverness. Follow Thornbush road/Kessock road to the terminus where parking is available. Regular bus service.
