Description
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see Toppet Lappedykker, Isfugl and Rørhøg throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports Sumpmejse, Dompap and Vandrikse may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including Pibeand, Krikand, Skeand, Spidsand and a few Troldand. In periods of harsh weather, Rørdrum, Bjergand and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of Grønsisken and Lille Gråsisken.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover Fiskeørn, but more likely, there will be plenty of Fjordterne feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of Landsvale, Bysvale and Digesvale may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of Gransanger, Sivsanger, Rørsanger and even a Gøg along the boardwalk trail.
