Étang du Rouillard is a recreational area that offers many birds a habitat during the breeding season. Numerous pairs of Höckerschwan, Kanadagans, Bläßhuhn, Stockente and Haubentaucher breed in the area. A host of nesting passerines accompany them, such as Bachstelze, Nachtigall, Gartengrasmücke and Orpheusspötter. Other species that can be observed include Flußseeschwalbe, Graureiher, Turmfalke and sometimes Baumfalke. During migration birds like Flußregenpfeifer, Rotschenkel, Kiebitz and Triel make a stop annually on the grasslands near the airfield. Mainly at the beginning of the year Schwarzkopfmöwe can sometimes be observed. Schilfrohrsänger and Teichrohrsänger sometimes stop in the small reedbeds of the pond in early spring. Grauschnäpper and Trauerschnäpper are regular in the autumn. Winter is also interesting to observe overwintering ducks.

Nombreux sont les couples de Höckerschwan, Kanadagans, Bläßhuhn, Stockente et Haubentaucher se reproduisant sur les étangs. Un cortège de passereaux nicheurs les accompagnent, tels que la Bachstelze, le Nachtigall, la Gartengrasmücke et l'Orpheusspötter pour ne citer qu'eux. D'autres espèces sont présentes en période de reproduction mais ne semblent pas se reproduire, comme la Flußseeschwalbe, les 3 espèces d'hirondelles, le Graureiher, parfois un Turmfalke ou Baumfalke sera aperçu en vol au dessus de l'étang. Les migrations peuvent occasionellement être intéressantes, avec quelques Flußregenpfeifer, Rotschenkel, Kiebitz et Triel qui stationnent annuellement sur les berges et les pelouses de l'aérodrome. Quelques individus de Schwarzkopfmöwe s'arrêtent quelques jours sur la base, principalement en début d'année. Schilfrohrsänger et Teichrohrsänger font une halte parfois dans les petites roselières de l'étang en début de printemps, tendre l'oreille ! Les Grauschnäpper et Trauerschnäpper sont réguliers à l'automne, surtout à l'unité. L'hiver est la saison la plus intéressante.

Étang du Rouillard is located near the town of Limay, on the bank of the Seine River, west of Paris. There is a large parking lot near the lake. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. You can make a circular walk of 3,5 km around the two lakes.
