Lake Olginate, situated along the course of the Adda River, is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) of great natural value. It preserves significant stretches of marsh vegetation, peat bogs, and small woodlands, making it an ideal location for birdwatching, particularly for wintering and migratory waterbird species.
The area is known for hosting a variety of waterbirds. Anatids: It is possible to spot the rare Moorente, with wintering populations that can exceed 80 individuals. The Tafelente, Mittelsäger, Bläßhuhn, Krickente, Tüpfelsumpfhuhn and Schnatterente are also common. Other species: The Seidenreiher, Felsenschwalbe, Haubentaucher, Silberreiher, Rohrdommel and Zwergdommel are regularly reported.
