A mosaic of water, reed, swamp groves and grasslands in the excavated peat. That is De Deelen, in the heart of the province of Friesland. In autumn and winter, thousands of ducks and geese, including Pfeifente, Bläßgans, Löffelente and Weißwangengans come to De Deelen. Rare species such as Trauerseeschwalbe, Purpurreiher and Rohrweihe also live in the area. If you listen carefully, you may be able to hear the Feldschwirl singing in the spring. Other birds you can see here are Graugans, Löffler, Blaukehlchen, Großer Brachvogel, Stockente, Reiherente, Tafelente, Haubentaucher, Mäusebussard, Kanadagans, Rohrammer and Flußseeschwalbe.
