Laguna de las Islillas is a small restored wetland created from old gravel pits along the Río Henares, now managed as a nature reserve and birdwatching site. The bird observatory has recently been renovated. Birds you can observe in the area include Drosselrohrsänger, Beutelmeise, Uhu, Purpurreiher, Rotmilan, Schwarzmilan, Rohrweihe, Grünspecht, Zwergtaucher, Nachtreiher, Bienenfresser, Eisvogel and Pirol.

Parque Regional Las Islillas is located east of Madrid near Mejorada del Campo. Access is from the M203 road. Park in the Islillas Regional Park parking lot. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The area can also be reached from San Fernando or Torrejón via the new bridge over the Henares River. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 2.5 km.
