Around lake Mattmarksee you can search for one of the most beautiful mountainbirds, the Mauerläufer, which likes to live near water. Other birds you can find here are Alpenbraunelle, Gebirgsstelze and Alpensegler. From the lake you can walk up the mountain and see Alpendohle fouraging in groups near the "refugio", where you can also search for Schneesperling. There is a chance of seeing Steinadler and Bartgeier flying by.

On the Swiss side you can get here by car and walk. On the Italian side you can go up to Monte Moro by cable car or climb up by hiking.
