The area of Kersele Sweetgum Forest is a small stream delta on the western coast of Köyceğiz Lake. Very isolated. Due to its wet structure, it is a rare area for Anatolian sweetgum in the region. Some parts are effected by seasonal floods. The pine forests and lake narrow the area. Good spot for discover new species, not just birds but mammals and reptiles too. Among the birds you can encounter are Eleonorenfalke, Neuntöter, Maskenwürger, Wiedehopf, Bienenfresser, Zwergohreule, Kleinspecht, Blaßspötter, Drosselrohrsänger, Eisvogel, Nachtreiher and Ziegenmelker.

A very isolated location, no human settlement in the surroundings. Locals use the area for grazing, so it is wise to be cautious for roaming cattle between marshes. In winter, it is possible to see wild mammals.
