When flooded in winter the Ashleworth Ham area attracts large flocks of Krickente, Pfeifente, Spießente, Löffelente, Tafelente, plovers and other waders. Large flocks of Wacholderdrossel and Rotdrossel possible. Birds of prey follow the flocks. Sensitive breeding site for Bekassine, Kiebitz, warblers, Wiesenschafstelze and Rohrammer, therefore no walking trail, but hide and viewing screen provide comprehensive overview. Floodwater can occasionally cover roads in the area completely, take care not to be cut off by rising waters.
