Beschreibung
Aylburton Warth and New Grounds give good views up and down the Severn and of the Cotswolds. High tide visits best to see roosting waders; see a link to the tide table below. Flocks of 300 plus Großer Brachvogel winter here along with Pfeifente, Brandgans and Austernfischer. In autumn other waders pass, eg Sandregenpfeifer, Kiebitz, Flußuferläufer and Waldwasserläufer, and huge flocks of corvids feast on the maize stubble. March brings Steinschmätzer and first summer migrants. Wiesenschafstelze breed. Wanderfalke patrols. A pair of escaped Streifengans are present (not in the list below, as not wild).

Zugang
Layby at Lydney Docks, cross the canal lock and head south along sea wall. Also a layby at Plusterwine opposite dog kennels, cross railway and head towards the shoreline on public footpath. The route is also markes on the map (6 km one way) Click on a P in the map to get directions to that point.
Guscar Rocks (not marked on map below), between Plusterwine and Woolaston Grange, and the surrounding fields, is the best spot for waders (especially Großer Brachvogel) but viewable only at a distance. Proceed to the foreshore as shown on the map; the route from Woolaston Grange tends to be flooded under the railbridge so wear wellies.
