The brickworks only closed in the 1980’s and since then the buildings were cleared with just concrete foundations and a brick wharf giving any hint to the history of this site. Nachtigall and Turteltaube can be heard, and a colony of Schwarzkopfmöwe are usually found nesting offshore on Fowley Island. Among the other birds you can encounter in the area are Klappergrasmücke, Ringelgans, Brandgans, Kuckuck, Mittelsäger, Säbelschnäbler, Austernfischer, Kiebitzregenpfeifer, Kiebitz, Großer Brachvogel, Alpenstrandläufer and Uferschnepfe.
