Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for Teichrohrsänger, Schilfrohrsänger, Seidensänger and Rohrammer. Rohrdommel is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as Pfeifente, Löffelente, Tafelente, Krickente and Schnatterente. In 2001 Grünreiher showed up here.

Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
