Middleton-in-Teesdale is a market town in County Durham. The settlement is surrounded by the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Spring offers a great opportunity of seeing a range of birds, including woodland specialists (Trauerschnäpper Gartenrotschwanz), moorland specialists and bird of upland rivers such as Birkhuhn, Flußuferläufer and Wasseramsel. Among the other birds you can encounter are Ringdrossel, Gebirgsstelze, Erlenzeisig and Feldlerche.
