Beschreibung
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see Haubentaucher, Eisvogel and Rohrweihe throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports Sumpfmeise, Gimpel and Wasserralle may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including Pfeifente, Krickente, Löffelente, Spießente and a few Reiherente. In periods of harsh weather, Rohrdommel, Bergente and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of Erlenzeisig and Alpenbirkenzeisig.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover Fischadler, but more likely, there will be plenty of Flußseeschwalbe feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of Rauchschwalbe, Mehlschwalbe and Uferschwalbe may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of Zilpzalp, Schilfrohrsänger, Teichrohrsänger and even a Kuckuck along the boardwalk trail.
