A public park and the site of a ruined castle, Plympton Castle was originally built by the Saxons to counter raids by the Danes in the year 851 and is fairly famous in it was besieged twice in it's history, once in 1136 and again in 1224, the area was a Royalist stronghold during the English Civil War.
Both of these sites are another one of those infrequently visited by birdwatchers, with mostly common species the Pathfields did have a Wiedehopf in 2012.
