Beschreibung
Stoke Woods is a mixed woodland now designated as a Country Park. Being so close to Exeter it can get VERY BUSY especially during Summer and at Weekends. A visit earlier in the day on Weekdays may be better time to visit with a good chance to see Waldschnepfe, some other species are Buntspecht and the ever rarer Kleinspecht especially during February/March.
The Woods are good for numerous other passerines such as Taigazilpzalp, Waldlaubsänger, Fitis, Gartengrasmücke, Mönchsgrasmücke.

Leave Exeter on the A377 (Northwards) towards Crediton, at Cawley Bridge turn Right onto A396 towards Tiverton. Nearing the woods (on Right) look for a Right turn into lower car park. For higher car park continue on A396 and take the first Right onto minor road that eventually leads to car park on the Right.

BE AWARE, some paths are extremely steep and challenging.
In recent years mountain bikers are miss using the wood by making their own trails, some of which can be extremely dangerous to walkers.
For those with time check out Stoke Canon Meadows nearby (see separate entry) and Stoke Canon to Brampford Speke also nearby (see separate entry).
