Central Park is an urban park between the Upper West Side and Upper East Side neighborhoods of Manhattan, containing 843 acres (341 ha). Birds migrating along the East Coast in both spring and fall find Central Park a welcoming place to rest and store up energy. On a single day, as many as 30 warbler species may be seen. Overall, More than 280 bird species have been recorded in the park and an estimated 200 species are spotted every season. The area is amazing for birds year-round, with wintering waterfowl in the winter, warblers in the spring and fall, and herons in the summer. It has great variety in habitats, from ponds, lakes , forests, and fields, all with their unique characteristics.

The park is easily accessible by public transit, being near multiple train and bus lines. Parking is harder to find, although still doable. The park’s northern end is one of the best spots to check out (see the map). Another hotspot for birding in Central Park is The Ramble (see the star on the map).
