Description
Burg Linn is popular with history enthusiasts and families alike. It's also ideal for bird photographers, as the birds are quite accustomed to people. The park is open year-round, except during the Flachsmarkt (traditional craft market) in May, when birdwatching is not possible. The park features open meadows where you can observe (Κοινή) Φάσσα, Φασσοπερίστερο, (Σταχτιά) Κουρούνα and (Κοινή) Καρακάξα. There are designated dog-friendly meadows in the center of the park, as well as fenced pastures for cows and horses.
The park also boasts large ponds where you can often spot Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια, (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα, Αρκοπετείναρο, Φοινικόσιηνα, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια and (Βουβός) Κύκνος. With a bit of luck you can also find (Κοκκινόλαιμο) Νανοβουτηχτάρι (they're often found in the nearby Greiffenhostpark when they're not in Burg Linn Park), and in winter also (Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι can be spotted. Σταχτοτσικνιάς is common.
Numerous songbird species can be found in bushes and trees, the most common being Γαλαζοπαπαδίτσα, Καλόγερος, Κοκκινολαίμης, Μαυροσκούφης, Δεντροφυλλοσκόπος, (Κοινός) Σπίνος, (Κοινή) Καρδερίνα, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψαρόνι, (Κοινός) Κότσυφας and (Κοινή) Τσίχλα. When you are lucky you can spot Σταχτομυγοχάφτης or (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κοκκοθραύστης.
