Description
Schwalmwiesen, or Schwalm meadows, is a grassland area along the Schwalm River. It's a nice place for walking and birdwatching. This rejuvenated area is a lovely habitat for water, open field, and woodland birds.

Access
The Schwalmwiesen area is easy accessible from the surrounding towns of Treysa, Ascherode and Ziegenhain. The paths through the preserve themselves are navigable by foot, and the wider more maintained ones also by bicycle. There is a parking spot right next to the fields. Press P on the map for directions.
Public Transport: Treysa train station (1) is only a few minutes cycle from the meadows, and there is the Schwalmstadt-Treysa Brauerei bus stop (2) even closer, right across the street from where the meadows begin. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 6 km in total.
