Description
A scenic combination of mountain pass, cliffs, and alpine meadows, the Pas de Maimbre is an excellent location to observe typical alpine species such as the Κιτρινοκαλιακούδα and Κοκκινοκαλιακούδα up close. It is also home to the Γυπαετός, which, with a bit of patience, can often be seen in all its majestic beauty. Common species here include (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκελάδα, (Κοινός) Κόρακας, (Κοινός) Χιονόστρουθος, and Σταχτοπετρόκλης. Sometimes Όρνιο are observed; these are immature individuals from a population in Southern Europe that spend the summer in Switzerland. With a bit of luck, observations of Τοιχοδρόμος, Καστανολαίμης, Πετρίτης, Χρυσαετός, and Citril Finch are possible.

At the top of the Pas de Maimbré, a walk of about 50 minutes can be taken, during which Γυπαετός, Κοκκινοκαλιακούδα, and Κιτρινοκαλιακούδα may be observed. It is recommended to go up around midday, as the Γυπαετός is less active and harder to spot in the morning.
