Description
Alaçatı Wetland is a lagoon-like intertidal estuary covering approximately 250 acres, which is formed by a natural watercourse flowing north-south from the Kutlu Aktaş Dam to the Aegean Sea. The area abounds in halophiles marshes, dunes and shallow water channels, and a great variety of maquis or scrubland vegetation. The wetland provides feeding, shelter and breeding grounds for many bird species. (Ευρωπαϊκό) Φοινικόπτερο is seen throughout the year. In addition, bird species such as Καστανόπαπια, Πρασινοσκέλης, Κοκκινοσκέλης, Θαλασσοσφυριχτής, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Μαχητής, (Κοινή) Νανοσκαλίδρα, Ασημόγλαρος της Μεσογείου, Μουστακογλάρονο, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μελισσοφάγος, Δενδροχελίδονο, Φρυγανοτσίχλονο, Καλαμοκανάς, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κιστικόλη and Μαύρος Πελαργός are some of the other species seen in the area.
