Description

Cuerden Valley Park has 290 acres of woodland, 360 acres of grasslands, a lake, ponds, and the River Lostock. There are 10 miles of paths to explore the park. Among the birds you can observe are (Κοινή) Γερακίνα, (Κοινό) Λούγαρο, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κίσσα, (Κοινός) Πύρρουλας, Ανθρωποπούλλι, Χηνοπρίστης, Τρυποφράχτης, Πευκοδρυοκολάπτης, Δεντροτσοπανάκος and Σταχτοτσικνιάς.

Access

Cuerden Valley Park lies between Bamber Bridge, Chorley and Leyland. The main car park and Visitor Centre (part of Cuerden View Café) is just off the A49 Wigan Road, close to M6 Junction 29 / M65 Junction 1. Allow minimum 90 minutes. There are several car parks situated in the park. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking lot. Parking tariffs: £1.50 for up to 1.5 hours, £2.50 for up to 2.5 hours, £3.50 for up to 3.5 hours (2025). If parking at the visitor centre be aware its a long winding path down into the main valley area. Public transport: Stagecoach Ribble service 125 stops at the south end at Kem Mill Lane and also at Mallard Walk at northern end. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 3,5 km.
