The Deben Estuary is a nationally and internationally significant wintering area for up to 6,000 (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι, 600 (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα, Κοκκινοσκέλης and 400+ (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα. Also Λασποσκαλίδρα, Κοκκινοσκαλίδρα, Αργυροπούλι and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα. (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα at Martlesham Creek and Παγοβούτι at Ramsholt. Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι, Χειμωνοβουτηχτάρι, Μαυροβουτηχτάρι and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα possible. Small flock of Twite most winters. High tides are best for seeing roosting waders, check tide times and height first (see the link below). Take care not to get cut off by exceptionally high tides.

From Ipswich take A12 to Woodbridge then various minor roads to Waldringfield on south bank or Bawdsey on north bank. Boat hire available Woodbridge or Waldringfield.
