Description
Glasfynydd Forest has mostly moorland and woodland species eg Μαυρολαίμης, Red Grouse, (Κοινός) Φοινίκουρος, (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι, Κουφομπεκάτσινο, Νανογέρακο, Βραχοκιρκίνεζο and Ψαλιδιάρης. In winter Διπλοκεφαλάς, (Κοινός) Σταυρομύτης, (Κοινός) Πύρρουλας, (Κοινό) Λούγαρο and Lesser Redpoll. Few birds on the reservoir but (Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι, Σταχτοτσικνιάς and Χηνοπρίστης possible. (Ευρωπαϊκός) Νεροκότσυφας and Σταχτοσουσουράδα below the dam. For (Ευρωπαϊκό) Γιδοβύζι, look for a recently felled forest area with regrowth of bracken, bramble etc - only active after dark between May and August.

Access
From Swansea take A4067 Tawe valley road then left two miles beyond Danyrogof caves. From A40 Brecon/Llandovery road, turn south from Trecastle. Buses through Trecastle regularly. Train station at Llandovery. The circular walk around the reservoir is 8 km.
