There is layby parking on the Newport iron bridge which is a good viewpoint. Look for waders, gulls and terns in autumn/winter - (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Νανογλάρονο, Αργυροπούλι, Κουφομπεκάτσινο, (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι, (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα, Μαχητής, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Λευκοσκαλίδρα. Σούλα (του Βορά), shearwaters and Atlantic Puffin may be seen from the beach, or the cliffs further north, which may also have Βραχοκιρκίνεζο, Κοκκινοκαλιακούδα and Μαυρολαίμης. Σχοινοποταμίδα, Καλαμοποταμίδα, (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο, breed in the reeds where (Κοινός) Λευκοτσικνιάς, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη may also feed.

Access
The estuary and adjoining town of Newport, Pembs (not the same as the city of Newport, Gwent in east Wales) are midway between Fishguard and Cardigan, 10 miles from each, on the A487 coast road. Buses every 2 hours. Nearest trains at Fishguard. The south shore walk is 3 km there and back, the north shore and clifftop walk is 4 km.
