Description
Ruddon's Point is said to be the best place in Britain to view overwintering (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια, Βελουδόπαπια and the rare Surf Scoter together. Also wintering here may be (Κοινή) Πουπουλόπαπια, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα, Χηνοπρίστης, Κοκκινοβουτηχτάρι, Χειμωνοβουτηχτάρι, all 3 diver species, Βραχοσκαλίδρα and Θαλασσοπρίστης.
(Κοινή) Σιταρήθρα, Θαλασσοκελάδα, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος, Κοκκινοσκέλης, Αμμοσφυριχτής and (Κοινό) Φανέτο breed here, plus (Κοινός) Σταυρομύτης, (Κοινό) Λούγαρο and Χρυσοβασιλίσκος in the pines.
As with many east coast sites, rare migrants such as Γερακοτσιροβάκος, Κιτρινόφρυδος Φυλλοσκόπος and Νανομυγοχάφτης may turn up in September.
