Description
Swalecliffe, Whitstable and Herne Bay are all joined together, making it a long coastal 'strip' of a urban built up area. Swalecliffe - Long Rock is a prime seawatching spot. In the last three years Γερακοληστόγλαρος, Αετοληστόγλαρος, Γαλαζόραμφος Ληστόγλαρος, Υδροβάτης, Leach's Storm Petrel, Sooty Shearwater, Μύχος των Βαλεαρίδων and Little Auk have all been seen in Autumn/Early Winter (Northerly onshore winds are best). The site has a very long list of birds, some of which are Black Guillemot, Βελουδόπαπια, Κηλιδοβούτι, Λαμπροβούτι, Παγοβούτι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα, (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα, Κοκκινοσκαλίδρα, Λευκοσκαλίδρα and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα. Be sure to check out the churchyard area and sewage works for Passerines, the more open area and stream can have Δασότρυγγας, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Τρυγόνι, Κιτρινοσουσουράδα, Δεντροκελάδα and Lesser Whitethroat, look out for passing raptors such as Ψαραετός, Νανογέρακο, Πετρίτης and Καλαμόκιρκος, all depending on season of course.
