Description

The lakefront is a scenic 1.5 mile stretch of park bordering Lake Pontchartrain on the south side and older mixed commercial and residential areas on the north side. The park has a beach and playground on the western end with jettys that are often good for gulls, terns, cormorants and Brown Pelican. Spotted Sandpiper can often be found on the beach area. Live oaks in the same location are good for spring and fall migrants and usually Northern Shrike.

This area is best birded in fall through to the spring. Summer can be limited. Summer specialties are Eastern Kingbird, Purple Martin, Barn Swallow, and Brown-headed Cowbird. Winter has a good variety of ducks along with the year round birds.
