Description

Digue des Mizottes - Pointe Saint-Clément has a long, raised dike, from which you can see the marshes on one side, with the ocean at the bottom. These marshes attract a good number of species of herons (Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Cattle Egret, Little Egret and Great Egret), but also dormitories (Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier and Short-eared Owl). Other raptors are also present on the site, such as the Eurasian Kestrel, the Merlin, the Common Buzzard, and, with a little luck, the Peregrine Falcon. And lots of little passerines, such as the Cetti's Warbler, the Linnet, the European Goldfinch, the Reed Bunting, and many more!

On the Pointe Saint-Clément side, one can observe a Bluethroat great variety of shorebirds, such as Dunlin, Red Knot and Sanderling. A little bigger, the Eurasian Oystercatcher, the Avocet and the Eurasian Curlew will also be there. The site also hosts ducks, such as Mallard, Gadwall, Common Shelduck, Brent Goose, and Greylag Goose in winter. It is likely to meet the Bluethroat or the Reed Bunting singing in the open. On the side of the port of La Pelle, one can especially observe the Brent Goose, or many shorebirds of all kinds at low tide.
