The agricultural land between Grettstadt and Sulzheim is a suitable site for some special breeders, particularly for the Ortolan Bunting.
The region hosts the only remaining (and declining) population of the Ortolan Bunting in Southern Germany. The inconspicious area between Grettstadt and Sulzheim has proven to be a reliable site for this species. On a morning walk on the described paths it should be no problem to hear at least its distinct song. Alongside the latter pay furthermore attention to European Turtle Dove, Common Nightingale, Wryneck, Red-backed Shrike, Corn Bunting and Common Quail.
A car park is situated along the road between Sulzheim and Grettstadt marked by a small and inconspicious sign post (coming from Grettstadt just when the railway deviates from the road). You can go by bicycle, however the long path northwards along the hedge is partially narrow and then not very suitable for cycling. Grettstadt and Sulzheim can be reached by the busline 8160 from Schweinfurt.
