Descripción
Bistraka is a small lake between the river Struma and the A3 motorway. Its a great place for Avetorillo común in the summer. Other birds you can observe include Garceta Común, Cigüeña Negra, Cigüeña Blanca, Porrón Europeo, Ruiseñor Común, Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental Martín Pescador Común, Abejaruco Europeo, Avión Zapador, Pico Sirio and Carricero Tordal. Seasonal migration brings flocks of swallows, wagtails, and warblers, while wintering ducks and geese use the area as resting grounds. The area has also seen rarities like Porrón Pardo and Cernícalo Patirrojo.

Bistraka lake is located south of the town of Blagoevgrad. It has easy access next to a road. Press P on the map for directions. You can make a 2,5 km circular walk around the lake and also walk to the dams in the Struma river.
