Descripción
The central part of this area is the Kumisi reservoir where many ducks, grebes and other waterfowl can be found during any time of the year. In spring, many Golondrina Común and Avión Zapador can be seen hawking over the reedbeds and water. Porrón Pardo is sometimes seen here in autumn. On the Southwest edge of the reservoir there are some wet pastures where Garcilla Bueyera and Cigüeña Blanca can be seen foraging. Gorrión Chillón breeds in the abandoned buildings in the immediate surroundings and Carricerín Real in the reedbeds surrounding the lake.
During winter Colimbo Ártico and groups of up to 70 Gavión Cabecinegro winter here. On the Northern shore there have been multiple records of Avefría Coliblanca and there was a record of Bisbita Norteamericano some years ago in winter.

Accesso
Kumisi Lake is located about 22 km south of Tbilisi and can be reached by a 30-minute drive from Tbilisi. Drive either through Krtsanisi or Mtisdziri on the East side of the lake. Though this road is not in very good condition it should be possible with most non 4x4 vehicles. Another option is to drive from Kumisi/Koda, but a 4x4 is needed.
